Each participant will perform a 32-bar vocal cut in a mock audition setting, simulating the real audition experience. Following each performance, individualized feedback will be provided on:
Song selection and appropriateness
Presentation and audition etiquette
Storytelling, acting choices, and vocal delivery
Musical preparation and confidence
Ways to strengthen and expand your audition repertoire
Whether you’re preparing for school auditions, community theatre, regional theatre, or professional opportunities, you’ll leave with practical tools, actionable feedback, and greater confidence for your next audition.
Come prepared with your 32-bar cut, clearly marked sheet music for the accompanist, and a willingness to learn and grow!
Laura-Jean Diekmann joins us this September from New York, bringing more than 30 years of performance experience and 18 years of private vocal coaching to the stage and studio.
Throughout her career, Laura-Jean has performed in professional regional theaters across the country (including the Radio City Christmas Spectacular) while building a successful private voice studio, where she has coached singers and actors of all ages through personalized one-on-one instruction. Her students have gone on to earn acceptance into respected college musical theatre programs and pursue careers in the performing arts.
Known for her encouraging, insightful, and individualized teaching style, Laura-Jean specializes in helping performers develop strong vocal technique, authentic storytelling, and the confidence to excel in auditions and on stage. Whether preparing students for college auditions, professional productions, or personal artistic growth, she is passionate about helping each performer reach their fullest potential.
